Mission of the Division of Student Affairs
Placing students at the center of their educational experience, the Division of Student Affairs supports and enhances learning and the University community through quality co-curricular programs, activities, facilities, and services.
Vice President for Student Affairs
The purpose of the Vice President for Student Affairs' office is to recommend policies, guidelines, and procedures that will ensure a coordinated delivery and assessment system of student services throughout the Division of Student Affairs (DSA), which includes Enrollment Services, Student Life, Housing & Residential Education, and Associated Students Incorporated.
The Vice President for Student Affairs office ensures a comprehensive clearing system which tracks and reports budgets and expenditures; implements, coordinates and/or manages special projects; produces and distributes internal and external student communication materials; hires, trains and provides staff development; provides co-curricular education initiatives; and coordinates program assessment and evaluation for all units within the Division.
Associated Students Incorporated
All currently registered students are members of Associated Students Incorporated (ASI) and pay both an associated student fee and a student body center fee as part of their registration fees. ASI is a non-profit corporation which has a Board of Directors that oversees the allocation of the ASI student fees, funds a professional and student staff to manage the Student Union, and creates opportunities for leadership development.
ASI has four 'entities' which include Student Government (SG), Student Programming Board (SPB), the CI View student newspaper, and The Nautical yearbook. The SG President, SPB President, CI View Editor-in-Chief and The Nautical Editor-in-Chief serve on the ASI Board of Directors along with five additional students, one faculty member, three University administrators, and one community member. The ASI Board meets the first Thursday of every month in the Student Union Coville Conference Room.
Housing and Residential Education
CSU Channel Islands is a very special place 鈥� and you get the聽very best of what our campus has to offer when you live right in聽the center of it all in Anacapa or Santa Cruz Village!
Not only does on-campus living provide very comfortable living聽spaces, each Village also offers a wide array of study, gathering聽and recreational areas to fully support students' living and聽learning experience. In addition to some of the newest and best聽facilities available, we offer a complete program with trained聽staff to support student success and full engagement in the CI聽educational experience. Additionally, all residents participate in聽the residential dining plan, which allows for students to enjoy聽meals at Islands Caf茅 or use their "flex cash" to dine at any of the聽other eateries on campus.
Santa Cruz Village
Santa Cruz Village (SCV) opened in fall 2007 and is home to聽more than 500 freshmen. SCV is comprised of two-bedroom,聽one-bathroom, furnished semi-suites shared by four to six聽students. SCV has excellent activity and co-curricular space聽for students such as a television lounge, two game rooms, an聽exercise room, ballet and art studios, sound resistant practice聽rooms, and study and computer lounges. Each student room has聽cable TV and wireless Internet access.
Anacapa Village
Anacapa Village (AV) is comprised of 87 four-bedroom, two-bathroom聽apartments. These apartments are shared by four to six聽students. Each apartment is fully furnished and includes living聽and dining room furniture. AV also offers a variety of common聽areas, including study rooms and a swimming pool and hot tub,聽where students may relax or study.
University Glen
University Glen Town Center (UG) is our adjacent housing聽community on east campus for faculty and staff and the general聽public. A designated section, the Town Center, is available for聽occupancy through Housing and Residential Education for聽students who are 21 years of age and over. UG includes studio,聽one- and two-bedroom apartments; studios accommodate one聽to two students, one-bedroom apartments accommodate two聽students, and two-bedroom apartments accommodate three to聽four students. Amenities within each apartment include a full聽kitchen, two bathrooms, and in-room washer and dryer.
The programs and services of Housing & Residential Education聽are governed by the California Code of Regulations, Title V:聽Education, Division 5: Board of Trustees of the California State聽University, Chapter 1: California State University, Sub Chapter聽5: Administration, Articles 5 & 6: Housing and Meals.
Student Life
Student Life serves as a first point of contact for students聽seeking involvement opportunities on campus and provides聽proactive learning experiences aimed at preparing students to聽serve as effective leaders and members of diverse cultures and聽communities.
Student Life supports the educational mission of the University聽through the following co-curricular programs: Student聽Leadership Programs, Career Development Services, Personal聽Counseling and Student Health Services, Campus Recreation,聽Disability Accommodations and Support Services, Multicultural Programs, New聽Student, Orientation & Transition Programs, Educational聽Opportunity Program, University Outreach, Student Support聽Services Program, Veterans Affairs, Promoting Achievement Through Hope, Project ISLAS, and Community Responsibility and Student Conduct.
Community Responsibility and Student Conduct
The purpose of Community Responsibility and Student Conduct is to: provide a fair process for聽accountability of student conduct; promote the development of聽individual integrity; protect the rights of members of the campus聽community; uphold the rules, regulations and integrity of the聽University; provide learning opportunities for students who聽participate in the student judicial process; and provide personal聽accountability.
