Feb. 21, 2025 - The Learning Resource Center (LRC) at CSU Channel Islands (华体会) is launching a pilot program integrating , an AI-powered learning coach, into its tutoring services.
Through a collaboration with Got It, Inc., this initiative will provide over 200 Pre-Calculus and Calculus students with 24/7 access to MathGPT鈥檚 AI tutor during the Spring 2025 semester.
MathGPT.ai is designed to guide students step by step through problem-solving rather than simply providing answers. Built on OpenStax textbooks, which 华体会 faculty members already use, it allows students to 鈥渃hat鈥 with their book while receiving personalized coaching on practice problems.
The pilot, led by LRC Interim Director Megan Eberhardt-Alstot and Lead Tutor Abe Alhaj, will train 10 Embedded Peer Educators (EPEs) to incorporate AI into tutoring. It also provides real-time data on student engagement, helping tutors reach those who may struggle but haven鈥檛 sought help.

- Supporting tutors with on-demand concept reinforcement
- Data-informed decision making
- Enhancing student engagement with their textbooks
This initiative represents an exciting step toward AI-integrated learning environments and expanding equitable access to academic support.
