College-Going Outreach
鈥淚nfusing a university-going culture in Ventura County鈥
College-Going Outreach programs at CSU Channel Islands aims to improve the university readiness of Ventura County鈥檚 future university students and their families by providing outreach services to the community and education partners. The goal of University Outreach programming is to increase direct access to baccalaureate granting institutions through culturally responsive community outreach in order to close educational equity gaps for traditionally underserved populations.
Our programming aims to:
- Increase knowledge of college, career and STEM readiness information
- Develop an understanding of college and career readiness to address personal goals
- Engage in culturally responsive programming for students and parents in order to foster self-efficacy and a sense of belonging in higher education
University Outreach Mentors
University Outreach Mentors serve as ambassadors in the regional community of Ventura County to promote educational equity through proactive outreach and engagement of students and their families by way of peer mentorship, workshops and programming that promote a culture of student success. They motivate, mentor and inform students about college pathways, raise awareness of the benefits of higher education, and provide college and career readiness support to students and families.
