Follow These 5 Easy Steps to Become a Resident:

Step 1:

Students who have been admitted to CSU Channel Islands must accept their offer of provisional admission by the deadline. Visit the admitted student webpages for instructions:

• Freshmen
• Transfers

Step 2:

Submit your On-Campus Housing Application via by the priority deadline. There is a $50 non-refundable fee to submit your application and a deposit is required, unless you are eligible for deferment of the deposit. 

• Please note that the Housing application fee and the Housing deposit CANNOT be paid directly on the student account electronically or by sending a check to Student Business Services - these two payments must ALWAYS be made IN the housing application. All future payments are made via the myCI student account.

  • Returning CI students from the current academic year; academic spring semester and have a completed FASFA (financial aid application) on file with the Financial Aid office  for the current academic year or current spring semester and who have a Student Aid Index (SAI) of $3,250 or less (AY 24/25 or SP2025), OR
  • New Incoming CI Students and have completed a FAFSA (financial aid application) for the Academic Year on or before the priority filing deadline listed on the financial aid website, and are eligible for the Cal State Apply fee waiver based on the licensee's Student Aid Index (SAI).
  • For both student populations, satisfy all document verification requirements with the Financial Aid & Scholarships office by Financial Aid designated deadlines are eligible to defer the Housing deposit. Documents submitted for verification must be complete, legible, and accepted by the Financial Aid & Scholarship office.

Applications received after the priority housing deadline will be accommodated on a space-availabe basis, and may be placed on a wait list according to space availability. Priority for room assignment is determined by lottery for all students who meet the priority application deadline. Students applying after the priority deadline will be placed on a waiting list and will be assigned after all students who met the priority deadline have been accommodated.

• Select the Fall/Spring Housing Application.
• 
• Select the term you are applying for under Term Selector: Academic Year, or select the  Term Selector: Spring then Save & Continue
• Submit your application payment, housing application, and deposit by the deadline to secure on-campus housing!

Admitted students interested in participating in a Living-Learning Community should complete the Joining the Pod Survey.

Step 3:

Sign the license agreement as part of our application process. Students who are minors, less than 18 years of age at the time of completing the housing application, will be required to have a guarantor sign the license agreement and complete a minor medical consent form. This is an electronic process included as part of the student housing application.

Step 4:

Make all scheduled payments.

Timely submission of all housing payments is necessary regardless of whether the funding comes via financial aid or private funds. Whether you anticipate receiving financial aid or not, you’ll want to be sure to submit all housing payments by our designated due dates to ensure your housing accommodation needs are met. Making subsequent payments on time is also essential to retaining your housing eligibility.

Step 5:

Move in!
