Refund Information
Credits balances will be applied to outstanding charges on your student account before refunds are issued.
To expedite your refund, we highly recommend that you enroll into Direct Deposit. Please see instructions on how to enroll into direct deposit. (, 224KB)
Refund checks will be mailed to the address on file with the Registrar's Office. Payments made by credit card will be credited back to the original credit card. The 2.65% credit card service fee is not refundable.
A full refund of tuition and other fees for both resident and non-resident tuition occurs under the following circumstances:
- Fees were paid but no enrollment occurred
- All classes were dropped prior to the first day of instruction for the term
- The tuition and fees were collected in error
- The course for which the tuition and other fees were collected was cancelled by the University.
- The University made a delayed decision that the student was not eligible to enroll in the term for which the tuition and other fees were collected, and that delayed decision was not due to incomplete or inaccurate information provided by the student.
- The student was activated for compulsory military service.
It is the student's responsibility to drop classes, by the published deadlines to avoid charges or be eligible for a full or pro-rated refund. Failure to confirm your enrollment on your myCI student portal may result in charges and holds preventing critical university services.
Students who do not plan to attend, should drop all classes before the first day of the semester:
- Summer Session A first day of class: May 27, 2025
- Summer Session B first day of class: July 7, 2025
- Summer Session C first day of class: May 27, 2025
- Summer Session E first day of class: June 2, 2025
Procedures for withdrawal and eligibility requirements are available.
IMPORTANT: Students who register for courses offered by the University are obligated for the payment of fees associated with registration for those courses. Failure to cancel registration in any course for an academic term gives rise to an obligation to pay tuition and other fees for the reservation of space in the course(s).
Proration of Refunds
If a student drops to a lower tuition level and changes from full-time units to part-time units, or results in 0 units (i.e., from 3 units to 0 units, or from 7 units to 4 units), their tuition and fees will be prorated for the amount of time that they were enrolled in the dropped class/es. This proration begins after the first day of the session. Specific proration calculations for each session can be found below.
If a student withdraws completely from the term, they will be prorated for the amount of time that they were enrolled in the dropped course(s). This proration begins after the first day of the semester and continues up to the 60 percent point of the term. A student who officially withdraws after the 60 percent point in the academic period will not be entitled to a refund.
